Celebrating 50 Years of Archaeological Science in Greece
The Fitch Laboratory at the British School at Athens (BSA) will commemorate its 50th anniversary on November 29th, 2024. Since opening in 1974, the Fitch has developed from a fledgling project into a renowned center for archaeological science. As Greece’s pioneering laboratory in this field and one of the few worldwide, its establishment marks significant progress in archaeological studies both locally and internationally.
To mark this milestone, the Fitch Laboratory team is hosting an international conference that will highlight the contributions of archaeological science to understanding Greece's historical narrative. Distinguished experts will discuss three key themes: Movement and Mobility, Everyday Life, Landscape Histories and Environment.
Tickets for the conference are divided into three categories, allowing attendees the flexibility to choose which days to participate in person. Due to limited capacity, registration is encouraged only for those certain of their attendance, with a request to inform organizers of any changes. A brief schedule is provided for planning, while detailed information can be found on the BSA website.
