Brazilian Jiu Jitsu x Surf Camp, Algarve, Portugal
Participants are encouraged to join the unique experience at the Arrifana Surf Lodge. Led by Nick Tiscoe, a seasoned 2nd Degree Black Belt from North Shore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the camp combines both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and surfing against the picturesque backdrop of Algarve, Portugal. It caters to individuals of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, providing an opportunity to improve and have fun in a supportive environment.
Attendees will have the chance to take surf lessons at the nearby Arrifana beach or an alternate suitable location. Transfers to the beach are included in the camp package.
For those with surfing experience, the Algarve region offers a variety of safe and excellent surf spots to explore, with advice on optimal locations provided daily.
The previous camp was highly successful, with a diverse group of participants ranging from beginner to 1st degree black belt, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the program.
Nick Tiscoe, the head coach, possesses over a decade of coaching expertise in BJJ and has participated in various competitions on both national and international levels.
The Algarve is renowned for its favorable winter climate, boasting approximately 300 sunny days per year, with temperatures often reaching the low to mid-20s in November.
Attendees will enjoy exclusive use of the Arrifana Surf Lodge, featuring comfortable accommodations, outdoor areas, BBQ facilities, and recreational options such as a plunge pool and table tennis. The lodge is managed by Aldo, who ensures that all guests receive top-notch service and a memorable experience.
Nick not only excels in BJJ but also has a rich history in surfing, including experiences with larger waves during winter conditions.
The camp welcomes participants of all ages and genders, with a focus on inclusivity and personal skill development. Although children are not accommodated in the guest house, all experience levels are accepted for both BJJ and surfing activities.
While travel to the camp and transfers are the responsibility of the participants, assistance with arrangements can be provided. Additionally, breakfast and lunch are included, with attempts made to cater to dietary restrictions when notified in advance.
Classes will primarily be conducted in English, with some support in Portuguese if needed. Necessary equipment for BJJ and surfing is specified, ensuring all participants are well-prepared for their activities.
